I went to the endocrinologist yesterday and was happy to hear what she said. First of all, the whole pneumonia thing is because diabetes weakens your immune system. She said that there is a pneumonia vaccine I should get. My sugars are still slightly high but they are lower than last time so therefore are moving in the right direction. My thyroid was way off. It is funny because all this time, I have thought of the thyroid as a side effect. If only I could lose a few pounds, my thyroid would be fine. Apparently it is actually reversed. I told the doctor how frustrated I've been with my weight loss. I've been doing Weight Watchers and taking that one medicine that is supposed to help facilitate weight loss but I haven't seen any change. Then add pneumonia (comfort food and no exercise), I gained a pound or two. She said that with my thyroid where it is, there is no possible way I could have lost any weight no matter what I was doing. It is such a relief to hear that.

I know that it is rather shallow, but this weight thing really consumes me sometimes. It is such a relief to hear that it is not my fault. Not too mention, my thyroid levels coupled with recovering from pneumonia explains why I have absolutely no energy at all. The doctor changed my dosage of thyroid medicine and I am hopeful that things are going to turn around soon.
